I’ve got one of those annoying nagging colds that just gives me some congestion and a minor sore throat/sniffles, nothing more. I’m probably at 95% of health as a result. If I take it easy I suspect it’ll still take ages to go but if I just get on with the gym/circuit training after work as normal, rather than give it a miss, will I make it worse or does that kind of exercise help?

Exercise is pointless if you're not well.

I thought the general advice was - if it's just in the head then it's OK to carry on. If it's below the neck, i.e. chest infection, stop.

Train. Raising the body temp can be good for getting rid of a cold.

reduce the frequency and intensity but if it's a minor cold etc a bit of light exercise won't cause you any harm, particularly a little non-cardio work such as light weight lifting etc.

having said that, a steady run/cycle/swim isn't going to kill you. just work at a lower effort and for a shorter period of time than usual, will help prevent atrophy.
