Anyone used hypnotherapy for pain relief?
Discussion
Suffered from phantom limb pain since bike accident many years ago. Rarely use the prescribed codeine tablets as they do very little and the side effects long term outweigh this.
Pretty much learned to live with it, but if hypnotherapy could help, willing to give it a try.
Any experiences and any recommendations for South East and London?
Thanks.

Slightly O/T. Have you read the book by V.S Ramachandran on this very subject. Well worth a read if you haven't. I know people who use EFT to chase down pain for various chronic conditions. Some with success, some not. May be worth a try.

Will give it a try, thanks.
Read a different book on the subject where you used a mirror to fool the brain.
For me it meant standing by a mirrored wardrobe door at 90 degrees to my right collarbone (it's my right arm I lost), then look into the mirror and raise your left arm so you could see it's reflection but not the the actual arm. Brain then thinks your right arm is being used and as it can now see it's 'ok', pain subsides. If you stretch actually feels like your stretching both sets of muscles - weird! Unf the logistics of walking round with a mirror all the time is a PITA

I worked with an amazing dentist earlier this year, he'd had surgery on his shoulder a few days before and was using self hypnosis to control the pain!
He's actually in your area!
