I've noticed recently that my right knee makes a grinding/crackling noise when I bend it. It's not a clicking noise you get occasionally on most joints. It doesn't hurt (yet...).
I haven't done anything to it that I know of; I play the odd game of football but nothing recently.
Is this anything to worry about, and what can I do to stop it, if anything?!
Ta!
ETA: I'm 25 and of medium build btw.

I was diagnosed with this (subsequently, I'm unsure if that was actually the problem) but it was over 30 years ago & they removed my kneecap! Things have probably changed since then. It stopped the noises, etc but I wouldn't recommend it unless absolutely necessary & THE LAST resort. With kneecap removed, of course, it's probably difficult now to prove what the actual problem was.Mine has cracked for most of my life . Thing is i went on my friend stag week to puerto banus .As you would on a stag week we drank quite a lot of cheap vodka .I mean alot . Every thing was ok until i got home . 1 night about a week after i got home i woke up in agony with pain in my left knee . Went to bed fine .I had some pain killers which worked fine but its took aprox 1 year to get rid of all the pain . Iam thinking it was the cheap vodka .

Medium on average. Your puny legs and powerfully built shoulders and completely square body average out to a medium. Perhaps that's the problem, your legs just can't support your powerful upper body?I haven't done anything to it that I know of; I play the odd game of football but nothing recently.
