Food poisoning - At what point...
Discussion
... should you seek medical atention?
Went out Wednesday night, had steak, rare.
Thursday I had loose stools, then later that evening after dinner I threw up, shortly after followed a bout of the squits which doesn't seem to be ending. In the last twelve hours I must have been 15 times and it's getting more and more frequent.
I've had food poisoning before but never like this. Usually after the initial bout of s
ts that's it but currently no sooner have I left the toilet I'm ready to go again.
I also can't get warm, I'm constantly cold, I was even wrapped in a blanket last night and still felt freezing.
Should I be concerned this is something more serious?

Norovirus
Unlikely to be connected to the meat itself, more likely transmitted by whoever touched the food, served it etc or even someone you contacted elsewhere

Yep sounds very like Norovirus to me. Comes with rather violent vomiting and sUnlikely to be connected to the meat itself, more likely transmitted by whoever touched the food, served it etc or even someone you contacted elsewhere

ts followed by a day of being totally drained. 2nd day is much better but best take it easy. Oakey said:
That certainly sounds like what I'm suffering. I woke up in the night with a headache and my arms and legs feeling like they were being battered.
Can I ride it out then without seeing a Doctor and would Iodine tablets help?
I didn't bother with the doctor when I got it. Just rode it out. Unpleasant 48 hours but once the initial horror of the volume of stuff exiting your body subsides, its OK. Just make sure you keep your fluid intake up. Might be worth nipping to a chemist to get their opinion on it. They might recommend some supplliemnts to help you get the various essentials you are missing from not being able to eat or keep anythin down. Can I ride it out then without seeing a Doctor and would Iodine tablets help?
As always with this forum though, usual caveats, not a doctor etc apply and if you feel like s
t, go to the GP...LordGrover said:
I didn't mean to imply contacting anyone to vent one's spleen, sue, etc - I just meant it may be possible to save someone else some sickness and pain.
Lol, I know. I'm trying to narrow it down. It's either the meal on Wednesday night or the bakery I bought my lunch from. Shaw Tarse said:
Does Picolax have a flavour?
I had to do the Picolax thing before a sigmoidoscopy and I swear, the hype is worse than the reality. To say I was disappointed is an understatement. I've read the Agent Picolax thread and heard the scare stories on here, Lee Evans even ripped off a version of Agent Picolax for his latest DVD but it's not as bad as everyone says it is. Then again I had the foresight to make sure I didn't stuff my face full of food the day before so that might have helped.Whatever I have now is about 5x worse than Picolax.
