Pink eye

Think I've got myself some conjunctivitis. I've had an itchy eye for about 2 weeks and finally today it's gone pink.
Any advice? Do I need to go to the doctors or will it sort its self out?

I've got some sofradex I took for an ear infection about a year ago now, would that help?

if it's genuine conjunctavitis (more gooey than itchy), it's highly contageous so be careful who you touch and who you share any stuff with. Having an itchy eye isn't necessarily conjunctavitis though and could be all sorts of things from lack of sleep, stress, foreign objects or particles etc. Going pink is probably a consequence of itching. Have you tried basic over the coner stuff like Optrex? Or even just boiled water.

Basic bacterial conjunctivitis is self limiting in a few days just make sure you keep you hand hygiene up.
You can buy chloramphenicol over the pharmacy counter now without prescription so that would be your first port of call. If that doesn't work then to your GP as you may be unlucky and it not be a bacterial cause.
Boiled water and optrex - which is just witch hazel - won't do any harm but won't good either.

Pretty sure it's the real deal since I wake up with sticky eyelids. I've had itchy eyes for around 3 weeks now but originally I thought it was the cat my flatmate got, but now he's got rid of it and my eyes still itchy. This is the first day that it's actually gone pink. It's been pink all day.

I'll try that over the counter stuff you mentioned. Thanks.
