I think I have whooping cough, any experience?

At my age I have somehow gone and contracted whooping cough. I have to admit that it is terrifying when it happens. You cough out until your last breath and then can't get any air back in for what feels like forever.

Going to doc in morning to see if anything can be done. Does anyone have experience of this? How long does it last etc.

I am scared of coughing at the moment as it feels like I will never start to breath again.
