The Snip - Any Experiences?

Thinking about it as I'm approaching 40 and I don't want kids again.
BUT...I'm a bit worried about some of the side-effects that have been reported such as lack of build-up prior to orgasm. Anyone that's had the procedure and has experiences to share, positive or not, would be welcomed.

Best thing I ever did. Wife came with me and held my hand. Very quick 5 min operation, literally! I had a dull pain for a couple of days, laid in bed with the wife waiting on me. Ever since the all clear, it's been chocks away! No looking for condoms, sex at will when ever, where ever.
I've had no issues getting him to salute or fire on command.

Can I ask if you got it on the NHS or privately? Not sure what waiting lists might be...
Whoa there, hold on, just a minute, think about this, it's a big step.
I don't know hao any one can say "they don't want kids again"
What a monumental decision.
I know, thats what you think now.
but what about the future,
Next year, next 5 years, the "next" Mrs Nobleguy, relationships don't always last forever, life changing accidents happen.
If I knew now, what I was letting myself infor, all them 25 years ago, then no way on earth would i go get the snip done.
25 years ago, I said, "well thats it",
I also decided no more for me.
Then relationships end, and you meet another, possibly a great younger girl, the one you would have like to have met all them years ago.
However you were both in a different time and space.
So before you go for the "chop" stop and think.
Why not just send herto get the chop instead.
I have been lucky and unlucky.
After 22 years, and a long dead relationship I met some one else, much younger.
Oh, and let me tell you, it's nothing to do with "your" age but how old you really feel, which is nothing like how old you actually are.
A bit confusing but, any way.
So my new partner who I met 3 years ago, has talked me into being a dad again.
So off to the best private hospitals, to look for the plumbing dept.
All to be told, Who there "you are looking for a "reconnection after how long,,,,,,,,,,,,25 years ago you had the chop, now you want me to put it all back together for you?"" Are you serious? Really ?
Well yes I said, thats about it. What can you dou, and when ?
Well, I can give you a 10% chance it will work, like I said, 25 years ago is a long, long, long time, but your paying the cash, so I will do my best.
Low and behold, 6 months later the swimmers are back, not many, not enough, but they are back, like a miracle.
As each 3 months go by, I take myself off for another sperm sample. Slowly getting more, and better shape, and more mobility.
Even old doc' was gobsmacked, he had exceeded his own expectations, never before had he done a reconnection, with a guy, 25 years after the snip.
16 years was the most he had done, and that wasn't that great.
I have known a few guys now, who have all gone back to the plunbers to get the pipes reconnected, out of 11 that I have heard about, only 1 has managed a child.
It is almost a "permanent" thing, and knowing now what I know, I would NEVER let any one go before they knew the WHOLE saga thing.

I waited for about a month. Referred by my NHS doctor, paid for by the NHS at a private clinic. Due to a DVT my wife was seriously advised against having any more children as it could kill her. As our daughter happened due to a Johnny malfunction, I wasn't willing to take any chances.Can I ask if you got it on the NHS or privately? Not sure what waiting lists might be...
I only have one daughter with my wife, but we have had other kids previously. Yes, it is sometimes reversible, but don't count on it.

Thanks for your input. I'm pretty sure about it to be honest - I do understand we don't know what the future holds and that things could change but the thought of going back to the beginning with babies is a horrible thought for me - it may even be a deal-breaker for me in terms of a relationship.
I'm actually with a much younger girl at the moment who is also fairly adamant about the children thing and I've found that very often girls of that age that date older men are of the same opinion. Although at her kind of age I understand even more that this may change in time...
I suppose the fact it's permanent is the key...thanks again for your advice.
Can I ask though, when you were snipped did you suffer any side-effects or was everything fine?

It was very easy,I'm pretty sure about it to be honest -

Went to the local doctors,explained every thing, had 4 kids, that was enough------at the time.
Doctor got me booked in to the local NHS hospital, a few weeks later.Went for a bit of a shave down there before I went along,
General anesthetic, didn't know a thing about it.
Woke up in the ward bed, some 15 mins later.
Went home a few hours later.
Mild discomfort, couldn't say it was sore.
Work next day.
Non of the ball ache that many have talked about.
I guess for me now, it is the psychological, of "Why did I do it in the first place"

Had mine NHS, my first and only surgical procedure ever. No pain to speak of just a bit of a dull ache ( or acres )right as rain a couple of days later just lie in bed hamming it up, and get the Mrs to do all the running around. Really really glad I did it. The waiting room was funny full of wives with there husbands I thought to provide moral support...however wife suggested it was to make sure the buggers actually went through with it.
I had it done nearly a year ago now.
Went privately, waiting time was around a month. Entire thing took about 30 mins from entering to leaving room and the worst bit was the injection.
It was sore for a few days but ibuprofen reduced swelling. I have had no side effects and no changes in moods etc
I agree with the earlier sentiment, no looking for precautions, far more spontanious and fun now.

Had it done a couple of years ago, my advice would be to get it done under a general. Why worry about 'tugging' and having a conversation/eye contact with doctor cutting delicate parts of you!!!
Only side effect was a temporary colour change to reasonably bruised colour and some minor discomfort. AFter a few days no worries.
No long term changes and as others have said no further worries and bit more spontaniety

Had it done 4 years ago after our daughter was born. Done on the NHS with a wait of about 2 months from memory. GP wanted to see me and the wife to talk it through and make sure we understood the ramifications of what was going to happen then sent the request to the local hospital.
Treated as a day patient under local anesthetic. No pain and back at work the following day.
Surgeon did make the most unnecesary comment ever though. Told me to try and lie still and not move - this from a man who has the family jewels in one hand and a very sharp knife in the other!
