This week I'm training on my own for a few sessions and I want to hit it hard as I'm at the point where I will struggle with lifts and really be pushing myself.

I need a soundtrack to help me along so thought it a good one to throw out to the PH masses. Open to all genre's, artists, albums and styles. Very varied in my taste so throw all sorts my way!

If you have Spotify playlists, then feel free to share as that would be very easy!!

I find any live trance / dance set perfect as i don't have to mess with choosing the next track and most are around an hour long.

Check out the Glow Radio podcasts. They have quite a few live sets from the likes of Avicii and Ingrosso. May not be your cup of tea but perfect for me. I can just ignore everyone else in the gym and crack on.

For years before any competition or physical event I've listened to the theme tune of "A Bridge To Far" stirs me up nicely.

Gotta be uplifting positive stuff for me. As much as I like heavy metal, I found it got me irritated more than anything.

It is amazing how much negative emotions can weaken you physically.

I made a gym playlist on my phone that I just put on shuffle. Mostly upbeat rock and roll, seems to work smile

I am amazed at how much of a difference it makes not having music / accidentally coming across a slow song.

Whenever im struggling with 7 or 8 minutes to go on the bike, rower or treadmill I just whack on Bat out of Hell by meatloaf, really motivating.

Also, give 'elephant song' by the enemy a listen. Would be awesome walkout music for a fighter and very motivating.

I like old rock as well, Meat Loaf is a good one, the fast tempo songs.
The old cartoon songs from my youth uplift my spirits and give me that electric tingle, which is ace for power spurts. I also like the Rocky soundtrack!

This is pretty much my approach as well. I absolutely despise trance / techno / similar dance type music and hate the fact that most gyms seem to regard it as being mandatory. My playlist has a lot of modern indie / rock type stuff that's pretty energetic and gets me going e.g. we are scientists, the wombats, TV on the radio, the vaccines, all mixed in with some more sort of classic rock / punk type stuff.

You are exactly right, the music that they play there is terrible!

Noise cancelling headphones + Led Zepplin = cloud9

I've never heard a gym playing trance. It's usually chart st spewed from the likes of Kiss 100.

A current favourite of mine is a mixture of dirty Dutch playlists combined with gangster rap.
I should add, I hate gangster music but it helps me push harder!

Am I the only one that finds music a distraction whilst in the gym? I occasionally listen to music, but I find I have no idea what I am actually listening to whilst lifting. If I do listen to music then it needs to be really heavy metal with head banging guitar riffs. Pantera, Slayer, Metallica (older stuff), Megadeth etc. It needs to get me angry before a set.

I don't feel so bad about suggesting Carameldansen now hehe

I rarely use music to get me in the mood for training, however back in my rugby days I listened to Land of my Fathers before each game thumbup

During warmup for icehockey it's usually a mix of rock and metal music biggrin

I can honestly say that I have never listened to it for long enough to distinguish whether it is dance / trance / pop as it all sounds the same to me hehe
