Really pi55ed off that two weeks before going skiing I have picked up a bloody injury!

I was doing lightish dumbell upright rowing yesterday when I felt my upper back, on the left side, 'go'. It's towards the bottom of my lat, and feels like I might have pulled an intercostal muscle. It hurts/aches, but doing some floor exercises just now I realised that when I lay flat on my back on a hard surface there is a sharp, quite intense pain. The pain eases after I have settled.

So have I managed to FUBAR something to such an extent that it will impact my skiing in two weeks? ANy suggestions as to how to help it heal?

Totally bloody irritated frown

I hurt the exact same place doing deadlifts , very sore for a few days but back to normal in a couple of weeks. With no deadlifts though !. Perhaps find the exercises which twinge it and simply stop doing them for a few weeks. Is it bad just walking about ?

Any time I twist it is bad, but not just walking. I have an enforced week off weights anyway, so maybe it will heal. Just hope it doesn't take the full 6 week stint for proper soft tissue healing.

If it doesn't hurt when you breathe it's not intercostal.

Rest.By holiday time it'll be better.

2 weeks you'll be fine, good posture and anti-inflammatories.

Relax..
