For approximately the past year I've found I need to pee incredibly often.
My job is such that i'm out and bout all day. I used to go untill about 3pm without needing a pee. Now I seem to need a pee every hour or so. If I've had a few cups of coffee or tea it's way worse. I'm considering giving up alcohol as Last weekend when I got on the beers I was literaly peeing more than I was drinking. Every 20 mins I had to go.

I drink more coffee than I used to. Someone suggested that could be why.

Any ideas whats wrong with me.

My view entirely.

When I first developed Diabetes 24 years ago I was peeing ridiculous amounts.

Do not ignore this: get professional advice ASAP. It us the classic sign.

is also a sign of kidney stones. Often and little dribbles...really annoying. Just when you think you've finished, you stop and it feels like there's more but it wont come!

GP asap.

Many things it could be, kidney, diabetes, prostate will be the more common causes, several others which are far rarer.

Caffeine can reduce the bladders ability to hold against pressure. When my Dad had his prostate removed he gave up caffeine to help his bladder hold his pee back again after being catheterised for so long.

But, go to GP first, discuss (honestly) everything, have a couple of blood/pee tests and get an all clear before trying to sort it out through lifestyle means, it could be medical and you need to check this first.

not quite like that; caffeine is a diuretic. as far as i'm aware it's not the bladders ability to hold against pressure, it's more to do with how the tubules in the kidneys reabsorb water/salts etc as well as increasing your blood pressure, thus increasing pressure in the renal (kidney) arteries which (put very, very simply!) mean the kidneys will excrete more urine.

It doesn't really need saying again, but I'll say it anyway. That's a CLASSIC sign of developing diabetes unfortunately.

Unfortunately I can verify this - we are doing our diabetes and endocrine block at the moment and that is being drilled into us left right and centre.

There are a number of other things it could be though, get it checked ASAP!

Take a urine sample to your GP to check for an infection, diabetes or something sinister. Stop drinking Tea and Coffee, drink water instead to dilute your urine.

A couple of months ago I was going 40 times a day with no thirst, no infection, no diabetes. GP had diagnosed Irritable Bladder Syndrome and I am now on medication and all is good.

Hope you get it sorted soon.

Hopefully with women re peeing, you are also checking for Ovarian Cancer. Several years ago I had 36 months of nasty constant bladder problems. I had many tests and X rays. The last letter I had from my hospital stated there was nothing wrong with me, yet 12 weeks later I was diagnosed with a massive complex mass and diagnosed with Advanced Ovarian Cancer and given less than a year to live. Well luckily for me I am still here, even though in spring 2011 I was diagnosed with a rare inoperable cancer. Sorry for the slight thread drift.

Feck. Sorry to hear about that. Hope the chemo and radio can sort it out.

Not what the consultant told my Dad.

http://www.livestrong.com/article/520100-caffeine-...

Put simply, caffeine can make a bladder more keen on emptying itself. There's a longer explanation on the website but it essentially has nothing to do with the quantity of urine produced but the tendency for it to "spasm" I know I simplified it somewhat but I don't think my post was misleading.

Agree with all advice to say go to Doc etc.

One thing that I've noticed is that if feeling a bit snuffly then I pee a lot. You know the feeling you get when a cold is coming on, sometimes it develops into a cold and sometimes it doesn't? Then.

Have always just assumed it is the body having a reaction to trying to get rid of something and hence kidneys ramp up a bit. That may be pure tosh as an explanation of a genuine observation.
