Kids have all have a sickness bug this week and yesterday eve I started getting hot/frezzing flushes and ached all over....didnt sleep much as a result. Today I feel 80%...just very achey (like muscle ache from a workout...only all over)

So....does working out (maybe a light run?) while not 100% increase the bugs chance to get a grip or show it you're too tuff and it gives up and leaves you alone!

Neither. You'll feel better psychologically though because you're probably addicted to exercise.smile

Anyway think this: what will you gain from exercising whilst feeling ill? Answer - feeling a bit more ill.

If your joints ache i wouldn't run on them as you will make them worse.

If I've got a sniffle and it's above the neck, then I tend to continue training, albeit lightly and with half an eye on how I'm feeling instead of pushing through.

Anything that's got you feeling achey, I'd probably rest up. I'f you're going stir crazy, why not warm up very gently and do a long stretching and mobility session?

Had exactly this discussion 3 days ago with my girlfriend.

She's been a bit snotty/coldy since last Thursday and getting a bit peed off with inactivity, she wanted to go to a spin session on Tuesday. I said "Don't, you'll regret it. Wait 'til you're 100%". Naturally she ignored me! Wednesday morning she woke up with a raging sore throat, bright green snot, the lot!

I've heard that "above the neck" thing, but personally I don't train if I'm not 100%, not even a recovery session. It's just not worth it. Think about it . . . your body's requiring resources to stave off infection and you then want it to simultaneously fuel exercise, deal with the physical stress that that entails and fuel recovery afterwards.

Nah, leave it 'til you're right . . . training when you feel a bit ropey only ends one way I'm afraid!

I'd just train through it, but then I'm generally obsessive about training.
