Drugs and Alcohol test required
Discussion
Does anyone know where I can get a drugs and alcohol test carried out? I'm going to work at a mine site in Oz for a few weeks and they require one, ideally need it doing before I head out. I don't suppose the local GP will be able to do one? Our company occupational health haven't been as useful as I hoped!
Cheers!

how does that work? (serious question) .. do you not just live like a saint for a couple of days to get the required result?
Some alcoholics won't be able to go a few days without dying if they just stop drinking! robmlufc said:

I might be able to help.
I had to have one done when I was offered a job working for an American corp working in the UK.
Got it done at the hospital in Byers Road in Glasgow.
It was a Monday morning and they only required a urine sample but the guy said if I'd had a spliff on Friday it'd show up however, if they'd required a follicle sample they could tell if I'd taken any class 'A' drugs ever.
That's what he told me while I was trying to get over my performance anxiety at the urinal while he was watching me.

Its Jaguar mine site near Kalgoorlie, WA. Approximatly the middle of no where. I might be able to help.
Cheers for the tips gents, called the local GP and the receptionist lady had no idea, will get back to me. I will give the hospital a call as well.
It needs doing within 30 days before my first day on site so I will get it done and go on a week long booze and class A bender.

In Perth or Kal you will be able to get a DAS done (Drug and Alcohol Screen). In Perth, Western Diagnotsitcs do all the screening and I believe you can go to them directly. If not, here is a link to their list of collection centres:
http://www.saferworkplace.com.au/CollectionCentres...
Their collection centres do them all day everyday and you can get a priority turnaround on the results (24hrs I think), possibly quicker if you can go direct. It will then be guaranteed the right test in the right format for the site you're headed to.
Is that the Jaguar operation for Jabiru Metals? Theyre mainly copper but I think they extract gold too. In which case you may need a Gold Squad Police Clearance. Check that and get it before you go if you need it. If something comes up on it they dont like, you wont be allowed on site, they will simply turn you around and walk you straight back out again.
Be also aware that you will be subject to random tests on site for drugs and alcohol and you may also be tested in any mining head office in Perth or Kalgoorlie.
What job are you doing out there? Are working for the contractoror the client or a labour hire company?
Should be nice and warm out where you will be....

Feel free to pm me with any questions.

Cheers Reardy, yeah its the Jabiru Metals operation at Jaguar. It sounds like they are pulling all sorts out of the ground? Apparently I can get a test done in Leonora but I would like to get it sorted before I fly out as we're on a bit of a tight schedule. I'm working for Cummins, they have a load of our gas gen sets at the site which are having turbo issues so we're hooking up some kit to find out why the blades keep flying off

It looks sunny at least, a mild 38 degrees C yesterday! Just right for a grumpy yorkshireman who normally sees a weeks sun a year!
