Glandular fever - how best to aid recovery.
Discussion
I have been off work for 4 weeks with Glandular fever and Hepatitis, and for the last 10 days or so have been feeling a lot less ill, just lacking energy which has gradually been improving. I spoke to the doctor on Monday and asked specifically whether I was best to try and rest completely, or gradually do a bit more as I can without feeling like I am overdoing it, she gave me a very noncommital answer which didnt really help.
Monday and Tuesday I managed about 3 hours work from home each day which didn't feel like overdoing it, but a funeral I wanted to be at on Wednesday whch was a reasonably long day, albeit not that strenuous as I wasn't driving, completely wiped me out for all of yesterday and had my glands up higher than they have been, and the headaches back again. Today I've done a couple of hours and am feeling okay again.
Work are asking when I'm likely to be back and I'm wondering whether to say, give it another weeks complete rest, or I'll try and do a few days from home, and maybe one day in the office. Could anyone shed any light on whether doing bits and pieces, but not overdoing it is likely to significantly hinder my recovery?
Thanks
Hugh

I had glandular fever probably 8yrs ago, and what amazed me most was how long it took me to get over it. I was feeling "well" again, but with absolutely zero energy - really knocked me for six!
I simply did little bits at a time and nothing too strenuous and eventually it all comes back. It's just time, unfortunately.

I had Glandular Fever about 20 years back and it took me a long time to have the stamina to complete a normal day as I'd done before.
I would say it was a good 4 months before I was able to function close to normal, and a good year in total before all was completely back to as before.
