Diagnose my eye

This is my first venture in to this part of the forum, hopefully you guys can help me.

Firstly I'm a 17 year old male if it makes any difference.

Yesterday I woke up with a discomfort under my right eye, at first I put it down to tiredness but it lasted the whole day slowly getting worse. In the evening my mate pointed out it had gone a bit purple in the area I was feeling the discomfort.

This morning it feels a little worse but it has also started swelling a bit now.

I've no idea what it is and if it gets much worse I'm going to get it checked up. What do you lot think?

All the same, for a ten minute appointment I'd see my GP or ophthalmologist rather than take a risk with my sight/vision.

Very true, I think if its not changed for the better tomorrow then I shall go and see someone.

Sounds suspiciously like a chalazion/meibomian cyst.

I had one recently and is an easy outpatient operation.(pull the eyelid back,cut the back of the cyst downwards and extract the 'goo'!Sounds painful,but just a slight discomfort)

Try bathing the area with hot (as hot as you can bear)water,it may 'pop' and disappear of it's own volition.

If the problem persists,see your Doctor who will refer you to a eye specialist at your local hospital.

Used to get styres when I was a youth...they always were a pig (arf).

If you wake one day apparently blind in one eye, don't panic. A stye can go pop in the night and gum your eyelids shut. Warm water is the fix.

In fact, an eyebath of warm Optrex may help anyway.
