How do.

My ankle separated itself from my leg at the end of January during a rugby match.

120 degree dislocation and snapped fibula.

Tried to go for a run this morning, still being a bit of a bugger.

Having physio, but anyone got any exercises that will mend my poor little leg?

Ta.

I have nothing to add to this thread, other than waves of overwhelming nausea.

I think the thread title is misleading. IMHO it should be 'So...my foot fell off'

I can see your ankle. Its clearly poking out. It's in very plain sight.

It shouldn't be...but it is.

Anywho...I'm about to bring my breakfast back up.

Ewww!

I genuinely hope nothing else of yours ever falls off ever again ... EVER!

Lots of balance and stability exercises for you methinks. Some kind of wobble board will help. I take it you were referred to physio?

I'm not qualified but from the first photo, I'd suggest something is wrong. I might be wrong though. Hm, tbh I wouldn't listen to anyone's opinion on the internet so just take a couple of paracetamol and if it's still fked beyond recognition then run down to your local GP. HTH. biggrin

hehe

Woulda thought something like yoga or tai chi would help as you're gently applying pressure in different directions to gently strengthen the area.

I would think that your physio is in the best position to advise what is and isn't appropriate. If you're clear about how hard you want to push yourself then they can reign in the enthusiasm, which is better than them giving you stock exercises and not being aware you want to push it harder.

That said, I broke my ankle in a far less manly and impressive way last year. My recovery consisted of flexibility work on the ankle, both weighted and un-weighted, balance exercises like standing on one leg, standing on one leg on toes, wobble-board/trampette work and strength work to correct the atrophied musculature, such as single leg squats, eccentric heel raises/lowers, step-downs and so on.

Of all of it, the bit I would pay most attention to in retrospect (rolleyes), is the flexibility. Work super, super hard at that and the other stuff can be quite easy. A stiff ankle means everything else is really hard. Can you guess how I now know this..?

If you can get the physio to show you how to manipulate it yourself to increase the range of movement, so much the better.

Good luck. Mind your teeth on the breakfast nails...

EEEEW.

Frankly.

I'd let it settle down a little before you start hopping on one leg.
