With all this news of young helathy people having heart attacks etc whilst taking part in sport etc, it's got me thinking.
I am training 5-6 days a week and pushing my heart hard every day. I often get palpatations whilst sitting at my desk at work, or sometimes think it feels a bit funny.
I am thinking about going and getting a heart scan for my peace of mind, but can't find any infomation on Google as to how to go about this?
Does anyone have any idea? I have private healthcare if that helps, but not sure how to go about sorting it?

As above.

Speak to your GP, tell him you have private health cover and ask to have an ECG.. He will refer you to a local specialist.

Palpitations are always worth investigating.

Ok, thanks guys. I'll book an appointment and asked to get referred!

Is this something that would be possible if i didn't have private healthcare? I think it should be really!

Yes, if you have heart palpitations, you would be seen under the NHS. Perhaps not immediately and perhaps you'd have to push for it. However, you have paid for private health (or been taxed for having it), so you should use it. You should be seen more quickly.

There are a dozen reasons for palpitations, so it's worth having it investigated. Hopefully it's entirely innocent.

Any history of heart disease in your family? If you present yourself at your GP with nausea and shortness of breath an ECG and scan will likely be arranged, providing there's nothing else wrong with you.

Start with your GP. You will be assessed for risk etc.

There are lots of organisations who will sell you a heart scan whether you need it or not.
