Sudden dry flaky hands
Discussion
Well, what it says, really. This morning I got in the car to go to work and noticed my right hand was suddenly flaky. Looked like I'd been eating a fried egg buttie and spilled some egg on them (No, I hadn't just carelessly eaten a fried egg buttie).
Same soap and shampoo in the shower.
What is it and how do I fix it?

Um, no different to usual during the day. But the last couple of nights I have made my way through 5 stubby beers a night (Boredom and every episode of the big bang theory on DVD)
Alcohol is supposed to be a diuretic so it may be the cause of your problem. Try increasing your water intake somewhat until you speak to someone with more medical qualifications than a furry ninja hippo.K77 CTR said:
What do you do for work?
I work in an office. I'm restoring a boat as well, but I'm fairly sure I haven't had any wierd chemicals on me.
Actually, I have! Thanks for reminding me! I took my gloves off (rubber palmed, elastic materials for the rest) and the backs of my fingers were yellow like smoker's tar-stained. Most likely to be either grease or hydraulic/brake fluid. Then again possibly coolant. That would have been on Sunday, so maybe it took a day or two to have an effect.
Thanks everyone. Pleased to know I'm not diseased. I'll see if I can get some savlon or steroid cream or something. I'll get some moisturiser too.
Decent moisturizer like Neutorgena should clear it up.
I get it from time to time on my right hand and it's all my own fault for thinking I knew better than to wear gloves when working with oils and grease.
As it is Morrisons own hand moisturizer the same consistency as branded products works very well.
(yes I've pretty much tried them all)
