So, I'm starting to get into this losing weight/gaining muscle thing.. But have no idea on what to eat for dinner.

I've heard Grilled Chicken very often, but what do you do with it?
What other stuff do you eat in the evenings for dinner?

I need a few ideas to get started smile

Thanks!

What to do with a grilled chicken. Poetry evening? Ludo. No, wait- Pecktionary.

Siriussly tho...get yourself a nice sports diet book, or go online to those meathead bodybuilder forums. Breakfast of champions is grilled chicken, broccoli, and 25mg dianabol*.

  • bad idea.

UK Muscle have a really good section on diets, just be aware this site isn't safe for work as everything including steroids is discussed on there.

However its one of the only places you can go for the best brutally effective diets, training plans and information about fat loss/muscle growth.

Thanks Lee!

Is 'Cutting' losing weight, or is it getting the definition in your muscles? I've heard that saying before, about 'being cut' having good definition..

Yeah cutting refers to losing fat whilst maintaining muscle mass.

Bulking is to gain muscle and usually some fat.

Most bodybuilders alternate between the two as most of us can't lose fat and gain muscle at the same time.

Breakfast:
- Currently I am eating two organic egg whites for breakfast, no olive oil or butter - little salt, or...

- Organic rolled oats with 1% fat milk (the skimmed milk is not generally better since it has more sugar in it, even though less fat, and the 1% is tastier - 1% is the orange one in sainburys, in between skimmed and semi-skimmed)

- Two slices organic granary or oat bread with GOOD quality extra virgin olive oil, none of this cheap £5 crappy oil. Make sure it is not brown bread, as that is normally not too different from white bread, but with molasses added to make it brown, also it tastes rubbish.

- Apple, pear, celery sticks

Then eat four times throughout the day:
Chicken grilled can be real dry and boring sometimes. So try different combinations of things:
-Leeks, onion, one or two tablespoons of GOOD quality extra virgin olive oil, chicken breasts, chicken stock powder, rosemary, thyme, salt, add all of it to a saucepan and cook on 25% power for 40 minutes, don't touch the lid, leave it on. The result should be super smooth leeks with a great taste of chicken. Add some flower to make it thicker if you can be bothered, or...

-Chicken, garlic sliced, onion, 1 teaspoon of [oregano, cinnamon, cayenne chilli powder, salt, black pepper], add all to a saucepan with no oil or butter and cook slowly. Leave the lid on, moisture will keep the food moist and will not stick. Have it with long grain rice, when cooking the rice add turmeric and salt to give it a great yellow tint, slight taste and make it look even more appetising. Rice slightly undercooked.

-Do the same as above but without cinnamon and chilli powder, and add it to any decent pasta and then add basil, lots more oregano, and a teaspoon or two of good extra virgin olive oil

-Salmon is very good for you, make sure you remove the skin though. A very tasty way and simple, actually fat free way of cooking it is to poach it. Get a shallow pan, pour in water just below the height of the fish, make sure its cold water. Fish in water, hob on 60%, once the water turns cloudy and the fish turns pale turn it over (generally after 4 mins) and do another 4 minutes. Easy, mess free, very healthy, very tasty. Have that with steamed potatoes and asparagus, coat the potatoes in a tablespoon of good extra virgin olive oil

-Salads, don't ever put any of those 'dressings' on them. A good salad (iceberg lettuce, decent tomatoes, onion, oregano, basil, sweetcorn, tuna, black olives etc) only needs a simple dressing - get a jar, then do a combination of about 65% GOOD extra virgin olive oil, 35% lemon juice or lime juice. Add in salt and whatever else to that and pour away on the salad.

-I made an asian type of paste, consisting of:
Knob of Ginger, Garlic, 1 teaspoon Cumin, 1 teaspoon Coriander Seeds, 1 teaspoon Chilli, 0.5 teaspoon Tumeric, 2 teaspoon Sweet Paprika, 2 teaspoon Garam Masala, 1 teaspoon tomato paste, 2 tablespoon ground nut oil, Half a lemons juice, 1 teaspoon salt, 3 garlic cloves, mint leaves, lime juice. Crush all of this up in some form of another, then heat it up in a pan so everything mixes flavour. Let it cool right down, add as much fat free white yoghurt, and it becomes a really healthy, tasty marinade for whatever you can think of, last time I had this with Halibut. Let the halibut absorb it throughout the day and it was amazing in the evening.

-Generally accompanying any meal there is some sort of steamed vegetables or root vegetables that have been cooked in the oven, no or little tiny tiny amount of oil.

At least for me:
Have smaller portions of more expensive organic food. Because of the price it could encourage you to eat less
Always get the best quality products, there really is a different between certain things
Try to never have those horrid frozen potato smiley types of foods, they are full of absolute st and don't do you any favours
Have loads of fruit in the house, however if you eat lots of fruit, make sure you burn of the sugar somehow.
Keep the lid on top of the pans, it keeps in moisture meaning you don't ever need any type of fat to cook it.
And... 1.5L of water min a day. Don't drink coffee, don't drink tea unless its caffeine free or maybe herbal tea. Caffeine is something that body most certainly does not need, so don't make it become reliant on it. When at the gym, I don't actually every drink anything apart from water throughout the day, but electrolyte drinks are probably the best (don't quote me though, double check on that).
If you noticed, nothing was fried, don't ever ever fry anything and very little use of the oven. Definitely use good olive oil whenever you need. Extra virgin olive oil has been proven time and time again to help your body, apparently even in excess (best not try).

So yeah, couple of really good recipes there that clearly show that you an eat far better food than people think you can when loosing weight.

Hope that helped in someway.

I make a meatloaf fairly often. Easy to slice and freeze so you don't have eat a mahoosive loaf in two days.
You can make it as lean as you like and add various grated vegetables like carrots if you like. Use the basic recipe here as a starting point: recipe (scroll down a bit to get to meatloaf).
