I'm having a little trouble with my left ankle. Let me fill you in.

I am a 41 year old man, and I would say that I am very fit. I have played 5-a-side football, swam and ran all of my adult life.

I had to give up the 5-a-side football when I turned 40 as the day after every match had a pain in my left ankle and was hobbling about like a cripple. I continue to run frequently (10k in approx 42-43 minutes twice every week without fail) and this causes me no problem in the ankle. I believe this is as there is no twising motion.

When I play golf (again rotation in the ankle) it's fine at the time, but can be agony the following day. If I take Ibuprofen as a prophylactic this negates the problem, if I forget to take some and have pain the following day again Ibuprofen really helps.

I have had angle ligament damage in the past playing football.

Any thoughts on my ailment and how to fix the problem (if possible) would be apprecaited.
