Sudden chest pain

For a while I've been getting chest pains, right in the middle of my chest. Got worried and went to docs and they had a listen and even gave me an ECG which was fine.
Thing is I'm still getting it and it's very uncomfortable. I can be perfectly ok for days then just stand up one day and get it. I've just had this now and it was a bad one, stood up to go out with the GF and bang. Literally stopped me in my tracks, had to sit still for about 5 mins till it went. Pain has gone but I can feel where it was, like a faint soreness.
Is this common with any members on here? I assume not. It certainly doesn't feel normal. I wouldn't want to give the impression I don't trust my doctor but after going a couple of months ago I'm none the wiser and they didn't really give me any idea of what it could be. I don't really understand the ECG either, it it picks up irregular patterns that's one thing but surely there's plenty of people with problems that just hit them even with no prior history of chest pains.
Any doctors in the house?

I've had similar sudden pains and regularly get mild chest pains. I've lived in and out of the doctors for the last five years and I've been assured there's no heart problems. I've even seen a heart surgeon and had a stress ECG for my racing and he assured me my heart is fine. I put my pains down to muscular problems and the doctor thinks I may have either a hernia or excess stomach acid.
Ring 111 and ask for advice now!
Was at work in London, and leaving my vehicle, I picked up my laptop and then it felt like lightning down my arm and across the chest. I slumped onto the floor and tried to mumble for help.. I was in EC2 and there was no one around! I started to breath slowly with deep breaths and was fearful of moving. After 20 mins I made it back behind the wheel (to sit down) and then rang 111 and asked what I should do. They told me to go straight to Chelsea and Westminster which I did. They did a load of tests and kept me in overnight as the trick is that exactly 12 hours after you have your 'fit' they do a blood test. This measures the enzymes that the heart secretes during an attack and they can tell if you have a problem.
Mine was caused by stress and general poor health. My friend also had similar but his tests were clear.. a week later he went into hospital complaining of chest pains and he was pronounced clear. When they hooked him up again, the doctor said that he was having an episode 'right now' and they took him straight into theatre and put in 3 stents.. it shows that some episodes are not easily seen even with an ECG machine.

I had similar and have all my life. Saw a specialist lassdt year. He said the in some people the cartlidge type stuff between rib bones is easily inflamed or tender. It produces exactly the symptons u describe. He also said docs often miss it. Anti inflamatories sorted it for me.
But. For heavens sake I could be wrong get yourself to a doctor or better still a specialist. Mine came via BUPA. But get it checked properly.

Started off feeling like I'd pulled a muscle under my shoulder blade then went to sharp pain in my chest, trouble breathing (like I was winded) and feeling faint as a result. Pain spread across my back and felt like my whole rib cage had cramp.
I was thinking WTF did I do, untll the chest pain set in, then was worried about a heart attack. My heart rate felt normal to me though. Left me with back/neck (whiplash) pain for a couple of days.
Have googled it a bit and it fits what I had but no mention of the whiplash type pain.

I've had GP's be a bit dismissive of ailments in the past, but generally they'll take you a bit more seriously at A&E because you've made the effort to get down there. So unless you're particularly busy this evening, I'd go down and see a doctor. Who knows, probably nothing, but chest pain is chest pain, and you know it's not normal. Whatever you do, best of luck!

Are you saying your ECG is irregular? Can you post it here (with personal details removed).Need to know more about you: age, sex, medical history, meds you are currently taking, allergies. What is your health like normally? Blood pressure?
