Coughing to the point of vomiting- Am I dying?

Well, I don't think I am, but anyway...

Last weekend I was camping in the Scilly Isles for a rowing championship. Got extremely cold on a few occasions, drank too much and developed a bit of a cold whilst there. Felt a bit better upon my return on Tues, although did have a couple of gungy eyes!

Since then I've been up and down, (un)luckily I had the week booked off work so most of Weds, Thurs and Fri was spent in bed with various nastiness including Delhi belly, constant fever and general malaise.

I'm a bit better today, fever hasn't completely gone but I'm up and about. However I have a hacking cough which started on Tues and has got progressively worse. It's now at the point where it feels like I can't clear my chest and coughs just "catch"- The pressure built up so much just now that I ended up vomiting REALLY violently.

This has apparently cleared my chest (for a while)- Anyone got suggestions for any decongestants that might help?

Friend of mine had bad chest aids. Terrible disease. Vomited his stomach up and had no choice but to eat it to get it back down again. Only way i could help was to fry it up with a bit of butter, white wine and a bay leaf. Had to keep it mild He's a teacher now.
