Gents, I'm looking to create a regular routine - so I actually have a plan of what I need to be doing when I go to the gym, instead of just almost aimlessly picking machines at random.

Has anyone got a simple to understand set of workouts that I should be starting with? I'm not obese but feel that I am 'unfit' - so want to combine 30 minutes of cardio in each session, as I have a small spare tyre that I want to shed, as well as increasing strength and flexibility (I want to get back into jui jitsu and boxing, but am too unfit really at the moment).

I'd like if possible to incorporate things like press-ups, pullups, squats as there will be times that I am not able to get to the gym, so by having body weight style exercises that I know - will be able to train pretty much anywhere.

Any help appreciated!

Pick up a copy of Men's Health or Men's Fitenss. There are always plenty of ready made work outs in there for a specific goal so you should be able to find something which suits,

Hi mate, if you are to get back into martial arts then maybe try circuit training and complexes for strength and conditioning.

Have a look at barbell complexes an db complexes on YouTube, also have a look at some of the crossfit workouts. Once you get into this style of training you will make up your own routines.

Barbell complex = perform all exercises and reps with no rest eg.

Bent over row x10
Cleans x10
Military press x10
Squat x10
Good morning x10
Thrusters x10
Deadlift x10

5 rounds with a light barbell.

You can still get your strength workouts in, maybe do 3x10 on press, row and leg press before hitting a circuit/complex.

Plenty of them here suited to you. http://www.bodybuilding.com/guides/

I just take a photo of the plan before I go to the gym and follow. Had amazing results using the Kris Gethin 12 Week Transformation!
