I need help, I work from home and have a job that puts me under a lot of pressure all of the time I spend half of the nights awake thinking about work and then in the day as in now I just cannot seem to focus and concentrate.

This is seriously affecting my work and performance, any tips on how to get my attention span back?

If you're going the herbal root then Ginseng is meant to give you a bit of pep and increase bloodflow.

If it's just for occasional use Modafinil could prove effective, it's used for the treatment of jetlag and improves brain function that's impaired through a lack of sleep, without the overall stimulating effect of caffeine.

Nootropics are fairly new to the market, they're a name for pills that can imporve cognitive ability, i've had good results on them and can be useful in cutting through the brain fog.

You need to address the root cause of the stress - why are you under so much pressure:

Deadlines out of your control
Unreasonable boss giving you too much work
Conflict with home conditions and working - kids / wife etc
High pressure short term project

If the root cause is long term then you need to work out what to do to solve it - if your boss is reasonable, then changes to workload, routine etc.
If he is unreasonable, maybe look to moving

Short term if things are worrying you in the night, I find it useful to write down ideas / actions etc that you think of overnight- this seems to "empty" them from your mind, and let you get some sleep

Burrow has hit it on the head. You nedd to address the root cause. You are probably struggling to concentrate because you are tired from being up all night. If deadlines are the issue then google for some time management tips.

In terms of helping you sleep and dealing with the stress exercise is great if you can find the time.

I'm in the same position and the way I personally cope is by training hard in the evenings and I usually fall into a deep sleep later on. I'm very highly strung anyway which means I have a natural tendency to seek out stress.

We all have different ways of handling stress and that is what works for me.

Walking along the beach I always find therapeutic as well.

I know its not a long term solution, but i use Rescue Remedy and it helps me relax in the evenings after work, calms me down etc and helps me sleep, a few drops in your drink does the trick, can be picked up from any pharmacy. Its what works for me

i had this. you'll think the solution is mental.

i read stuf i read when i was a kid. asterix books, tintin books, the hobbit, anything like that. it's a comfort thing and it doesnt keep me awake wondering what happens next.

dont know about anyone else but this really, really works for me.
