If you're concerned about cost, surely protein cost per gramme or cost per serving is more important than per kg?

For me, quality and taste is as important as cost alone. If it's cheap, it's perhaps more likely it mixes less well or has lower protein content.

I've found many of the my protein products to be good value but plenty of others here disagree.

Impact Whey from Myprotein is the best value you will find IMO.

Unflavoured if you are a real man, thats dirt cheap

Holland & Barret protein is full of fillers and is terrible!

As others have suggested, I'd look at myprotein (where I get mine from) or somewhere like bulk supplements.

I get the sci-mx stuff from here http://www.bodybuilding-supplements.co.uk/usn-100-...

Tastes nice, cheap, bulk discounts, free delivery, delivered by DPD so you get a 1-hour time slot by text for deliveries. Also if you buy from them, they spam you with discount codes.

Cheap stuff will almost certainly be Whey concentrate not isolate. You might as well buy powered skimmed milk... it will be cheaper too. I buy powered skimmed milk from Tesco's @ £1.89 for 384g IIRC.

Whey Concentrate is about 80% protein, Isolate is about 90% and powdered milk is about 30%.

I mean for overall effect. Concentrate won't be worth the quality. Spend the little extra for Isolate or don't bother.

1 pint of skimmed milk will have 20g of protein.

I can get 1Kg of Isolate for £19.99 atm, or did a few weeks ago at least...

It's not the extra 10% but absorbtion rate and BCAA quality/proportions you're after.

ATEOTD you're drinking Whey for maximum muscle gain and maximum speed it gets into your bloodstream and into your muscles, with the best quantities of Valine, Leucine and Isoleucine BCAA's and maybe Glutamine.

Given the cost and that 20% of Milk protein his full quality Whey anyway, you might as well have milk.

From what I have seen the gains with Isolate are much more dramatic than a 10% more protein proportion would suggest.

Just IMO.
