Good afternoon, I am after a bit of advice and help if possible. After years of being a fat greedy lazy swine I have decided the example I am setting my kids is not the best! For the last 5 weeks I have cut down to a grapefruit for breakfast, apples and bananas for lunch and then a bowl of home made mainly vegetable soup for dinner. I have also been having the odd portion of fresh fish here and there for protein, sometimes chicken breast.

For the last three weeks I have begun interval training on my treadmill at home exercising every day to ease into it. I have quickly got up to doing five miles at a time alternating between 4miles per hour for two minutes and then running at 7 miles per hour for two minutes.

What I need to know is whether that amount of exercise will make much difference on that diet?

BTW started at 21st!!! now down to 19stone. For the record I am 6ft 2in.

You're doing the right thing by mixing diet with training. Given your start weight, I'd read up on the calories you 'need' to do the training as you could end up not being able to do the training due to lack of fuel.

I'd also bring in different training routines - cardio, weights, plyo, etc - mix them up so your body doesn't get used to the same thing.

Have a look at the P90X thread - might be something for you to aim for.

Good luck and keep at it fella!

With the amount of exercise you're doing you can afford to eat more, just make sure it’s not crap.
