Trapped nerve?

Hi health experts,
Following a lengthy cycle ride last week, my hand / armis giving me gyp.
Symptoms:

No strength in right hand.
Can't move ring finger side to side at all.
Slightlyrestricten mobiity in that hand.
Constant pins and needles feeing in hand, occasionally spreading up arm so it feela ikeit's in my bicep.
Arm / hand had constant dull ache.

I googled it, and some site suggested...

the internet said:

put your arm out fully, with flat of palm on wall. Slowly move round so your back is on the wall, without moving palm.......

Owwwwwww! that hurts like a bd!
So, great advisors of ph - was yahoo answers' guide to untrapping a nerve lies? Some evil trick aimed at making me yelp a little bit like a scolded dog?

I'd kind of like it to go away, how can i fix myself?

haven't got too much time at the moment but look up thoracic outlet syndrome. Could also be cervical (neck) disc herniation causing nerve root impingement.

without doing a physical exam it's hard to say with any real certainty but in the mean time some anti-inflammatories will help, be careful using ice to reduce inflammation as icing around the neck area can be a dangerous thing as you have a lot of sensors (e.g. for blood pressure) there.

could also be scalene muscle tightness too....loads of things could cause it. OP - where are you based?

Thanks guys. Bit far from Hampshire, so will have to dig out the old bupa forms and go from there!
