Presents to nurses as a thank you

My Fil has had a week in hospital, the nurses on the ward have been "angels" how can we thank them apart from chocks and flowers (boring)

I took them a big posh box of biscuits for them to have with their tea/coffee break and it seemed to go down well.

I was seeing a girl for a while and asked her the same (she was a nurse)

They seldom get lunch breaks and end up eating crap/snacks on the go; you're just doing them a favour!

They always seem to be short of pens, so I bought them loads of ball point pens.

My nurse that looked after me when I was in hospital was ever so pleased when I took her out to dinner and consequently dated her for a while.

That worked well.

Bickies, any snack food that keeps well and can be eaten on the go will be a godsend on a busy day, load of pens is a BRILLIANT idea... wonder if http://www.goodiesfornurses.co.uk does vouchers?

When I had a 2 week stay in my local general hospital a few years ago I gave a card thanking them all, got them some nice cakes and biscuits and gave £30 towards their Christmas drinks, seemed to be appreciated.

Unfortunately - yes. Long stay patient's family brought us a huge box full of individually wrapped presents. As the junior student at the time, I got to pick last. Having seen bottles of whiskey, wine, and all manner of goodies I was hoping that my single package would be two concert tickets, or maybe the tickets to Old Trafford that had gone before.

Not quite though - a pack of three American Tan tights, large. Beautifully wrapped though!
