I have a (sleep derived) eeg brain scan tomorrow morning at the hospital that requires me to stay awake all night. I was wondering if anyone could give me some helpful tips on how to stay awake, without dosing off? Apparently I'm NOT to consume any caffeine.

Also, what type of food would be best to eat for dinner later tonight?

Can't be of great help as I'm sure there are more knowledgeable people here, but moving around regularly will definitely help. A couple of times up and down the stairs every 15 minutes or something. Don't knacker yourself out obviously.

Coffee and Red Bull aren't the answer, they're relatively short-term.

Drink lots of water. (Little amounts, very often.) You'll never sleep with a full bladder, and the little walks will help too.

Or you could read the Daily Mail website and be outraged...

You need adrenaline instead of the caffine, that will keep you awake so anything late at night that gets the blood pumping.

When i worked nights I used to find that carbs made me sleepy and around 4.30 was a real tough time to stay awake. Do you have any 24hr places you can drive out to save yourself from overnight TV? I worked near Heathrow and there was a 24 hour bowling alley we used to go to.

Go for a long drive, the fear of the horrible death you'll have if you do fall asleep will shock you into staying awake wink

Just focus on everything that's ever gone wrong in your life. All your bitterest regrets, plus maybe all the future stuff that you're worried won't work out either.

That kind of st.

Works for me. wink

Surprised no-one has mentioned the obvious benefits of Columbia's number one export by now?

Buy xbox. Buy Forza. Now set about completing the whole thing.
Car could do with a wash as well.
Have you painted the bathroom yet like you promised?

Basically find a activity or two and do them until it's time to go.

Did you manage to stay up? Funnily enough I managed it myself without trying - I was called into work for a network outage and have been here all night - that was another option I should have mentioned :P
