getting rid of a wart?

Anyone got any good ways to get rid of a wart? I've had one on the inside of my thumb now for 17-18 years and although I hardly notice it I'd like rid of it. I tried the liquid nitrogen freeze treatment at my Dr's many years ago and it was bloody painful and it just grew back. Currently I just put wart stuff on it occasionally and put up with it. I've read that usually they go after 7 or 8 years but obviously my one is in for the full term. Oh and I'm not digging it out with a blade because it's on the inside of my thumb and that would bleed a lot! Anyone?

always worked every time for me. Get one from any chemist for a couple of quid, without prescription. Don't get it on your clothes!

Freezing them off with liquid nitrogen hurts. When I had it done, the nurse told me to take a couple of paracetamol half an hour before treatment. She told me this just as she started spraying it, which was a bit late. It stops hurting very quickly as the flesh freezes, and then starts to hurt again as it thaws out. Then it blisters and over a few days the skin turns black and falls off. Then you repeat the treatment, several times, until eventually the wart goes away.

I don't know if I just got lucky. But I didn't find it hurt that much. Had one off a finger about 10 years ago. The Dr used the liquid nitrogen "spray down a tube", a bit like WD40. An intense pins and needles feeling around the area being frozen but that's about it.

You can buy the freezing kits from a chemist. It worked for me, but you have to freeze it for much longer than it says in the instructions.

I had one frozen off my fingertip about 20 years ago - nurse froze a fairly large area...

Ah yes. A fingertip may be different! Mine was near the inside of a knuckle.

(Had an injection into a fingertip once, it did hurt. I'd sooner shut my old chap in a door)

My missus got me to tie a piece of cotton thread around her wart over successive evenings, making sure it was tight each time. After a while it came off and hasn't grown back. However 2 more have popped up on her finger now

Not quite She's Chinese and apparently warts bring you good luck. Not sure i believe that myself but fingers crossed for this Saturday's lottery draw!

I bit one off once when I was very drunk. It bled like an absolute bd but it didn't grow back. I dug one out with nail scissors too, again when very drunk. Also bled like a bd, but didn't grow back either.

The sap from dandelion stems works - cleared mine up. Lots of repeat treatments though. So get picking!
