Hi folks i went for fasted blood test results the other day (just annual health check) nurse advised all normal i asked for a copy and found a couple i dont understand
serum urea level (XMOlt) 7.8mmol/L (2.5-7.5) above limit
eosinophil count - observation (42K) 0.03 10*9/L (0.04-0.4) below low ref limit
haemoglobin A1C level - IFCC standardized (XaPbt) 33mmol/mol (42.0-43.0) below low ref limit
anyone shed any light on this as i have no faith in my doctors surgery

HbA1c is a measure of glycosylated haemoglobin - haemoglobin that has been bound to glucose. It's used as a marker of longer term glucose control in diabetics. If you aren't diabetic, then the level is entirely acceptable.
Urea in a fit young person is mostly reflective of quantity of protein ingestion and state of dehydration. It will rise with each.

just a yearly health check at my request
Don't request yearly health checks if it's not something the NHS screens for, EG: hypertension, cholesterol, mammograms in women. You asking to be seen for a once-over, without symptoms, is a very labour intensive and unspecific way of dealing with health.
NICE spends huge amounts of money examining what to screen for, and as good as your thoughts are, you are probably wasting time and causing yourself unneccessary worry by slecting your own screening visits.

no offence meant
Good advice from the Doc above. Friend of mine bought a personal BP tester, used it whenever he was feeling stressed out, the results of which just made him feel even more stressed when he saw the high scores.
Doc advice was to bin the bloody thing and have the occasional glass of red.

Doc, no offence taken, and i will note your advice but my family history is not great cancer wise (lost my mum, dad and uncle) i also have a blood condition called Factor V leidens disease. I used to see a heamotologist on a regular basis (every 6 months) but since he retired i dont get to see one anymore, i'm not overly worried about my health but i do like to do what i can as the NHS seem imo to do very little to prevent things.
It's better not to know sometimes.
I went to the GP about 6-8months ago with a dodgy shoulder. I also mentioned that my BP can be a tad elevated so he did a blood count. Which came back with having low platelets which in turn had me thinking I had blood cancer and was going to die that week
Ended up being referred to a haematologist who tells me I have (ITP) Idiopathic Thrombocytepenia(sp). He was a strange bloke, talked to me over his spectacles like I was there wasting his time on feckin purpose.
Anyway, After my review in a month - if it's remaining at a similar level then I'm going to forget about it and just get on with it. I'm fit and healthy.
