Subacromial Decompression - Anyone?

I've had an ongoing shoulder problem for a couple of years now and after various types of physio and injections, they've decided that surgery is the best bet to resolve the problem.
I've been booked in for a subacromial decompression at the end of December.

Has anyone had this type of surgery before?
How long does the recovery tend to be?
Any other experiences of it?
