wisdom tooth pain - pericoronitis
Discussion
fking started hurting on Saturday, I dosed myself up and got an appointment for today on the NHS
the guy looks in my mouth for circa 10 seconds, subscribes anti biotics and sends me on my way.
it's still so painful, I've just finished the last of my 30mg dihydrocodine (from my knee op) which managed the pain ok but now I'm out and fked
oh dentists of PH, how can I stop the pain? and how can I get more codine?
I have had enough of the nhs I'm going to get them pulled out in Oman

Long night ahead I'm afraid.
Don't know where you live but I wouldn't fancy getting on a flight with raging toothache ( unless you can drive to Oman)
Some dentists refer patients to the dental hospital , maybe this might be an option if he is unwilling to treat you for whatever reason
You could always pay for the treatment at a private dentist.
Good luck

You can have the flap of gum removed, they'll recommend it if it happens a few more times. Removing the tooth isn't always necessary.
But not much you can do now except take the antibiotics and wait for the inflammation to go down.
You might be able to get cocodamol from a night pharmacist? Presume that's about the strongest you can get OTC

I went to the emergency dentist at my local health centre as my dentist was unwilling to help.
If you try this you will have to say you don't have a dentist, otherwise they won't see you!
By the time he saw me I could hardly open my mouth and was suffering badly with the pain. He prised my mouth open and within about two minutes had cut open my gum on both sides and stuffed the wounds with some kind of anaesthetic(which looked like tobacco iirc). Immediate relief and, once the trauma died down in my gums, no more pain.
The teeth then just grew through naturally and the only problem I now have is that my front teeth have become quite wonky as a result of the two new(huge) teeth at the back!

t, cubts I had years of infections before I had 3 of mine out. They refused to take the 4th out as there wasn't anything wrong with it. Got rid as the antibiotics stopped working on the infections.
Be aware that the pain you'll be in after having them out is 100 times worse than what you are in now! f
king smarts!

So what? If you had started wearing jeans at the time your wisdom teeth were coming through would you make a link with that too? fact

Evidence is flimsy at best Alan or is that just the NHS trying to get out of funding dental surgery?
