Transrectal prostate ultrasound and biopsy plus worse . . .

Also having a cyst drained from the prostate at the same time, I assume via the same route. Also having rigid cystoscopy and probably TURBT at the same time just in case the day wasn't going badly enough already. May also cut me open depending on what is found but told they might have to wake me up to ask first . . . seems a bit over polite given what they will have already done and where 
Fortunately I'll be asleep. Just wondering how bad I'm going to feel in the week afterwards ? Too rough to drive ? I've been told I can drive 48 hours after the op but this seems a bit soon ?
I there likely to be substantial pain or just a dull ache ? Nurse suggested dull ache. Is drinking cranberry juice a good idea or will fruit juice sting ?
Any good suggestions for lowering pain or making recovery easier/more successful ?

Can i just ask what the symptoms are?
Reason i ask is i had a cystoscopy a few years back to check an historic kidney problem which the results came back fine.
I was having a fair bit of pain so after a quick prod by the doctor (ooh err) he confirmed that my prostate was enlarged, gave me some anti inflammatory tabs and said not to bike/horse ride as these could aggravate it.
Thing is i was in my mid twenties at the time and still have problems with it now, particularly if i eat spicy food and such like, so im wondering if its worth having my prostate examined by scope to check for something like a cyst?

I've had 2 biopsies and a small op in the past,, all under general, being 'out' for 15mins and 45 mins respectively.I was fine to drive after 48hrs for the biopsies, but drove just after the 48hrs limit for the operation and that was a mistake. I was OK because it was a short trip and had people with me who could drive if I couldn't, but I definitely wasn't 100%. From what you've described, I'd give it another day extra.
To the OP. I have had a very minor op on my waterworks a couple of years back. You will wake up with a catheter in place. This will probably be kept in place for 24 to 48 hours. You may get some pain on urinating for some time afterwards. You will be passing blood in your urine for some days/ weeks. Your main barrier to driving will be that when you have to go, you really have to go. You will not want to be too far from a loo for some weeks afterwards. You will also be encouraged to drink vast quantities of fluid which meens you pee even more than usual.
Post op pain / discomfort all managed with oral pain killers.

Go see your GP and get it checked out. There are several inestigative tests based on urine and blood samples that can be easily carried out. All done now. Didn't have the biopsy done but did have 10ml drained from a cyst and a rigid systoscopy. Tip of penis very, very sore when I came round and needed morphine. Peeing the first time was like needles and needed oral morphine. Those were the worst bits.
The rest was OK . . . compared with the other people on the ward I was very fortunate.
