This will sound silly, and unwise to post while I'm a bit drunk. But it's 2 and a half years since my surgery/chemotherapy for testicular cancer. Today, I've had a check up and I'm officially Still In Remission.

For the curious, the other side's still OK so with luck there may be Blearyeyedbabies some day. smile

I have to go back once every six months for a checkup to make sure nothing's come back. Now I've been OK for a while, I'm 99.5% likely to be OK but I get my tests and have to go in to see a consultant... it's like pulling the trigger in Russian Roulette but there are about 200-300 chambers instead of six.

Anyway, today I pulled the trigger... and my chest x-ray's fine, things seem fine and there's not signs of me dying soon. I've got pretty drunk tonight because I'm very happy. There's no logical reason why today should be different to most other days but it's (psychologically anyway) a Day of Judgement.

I do it again in six months. I'm OK, but get a bit stressy a week or so before each appointment.

Anyway, I'm Not Dying Yet, very happy, rather drunk and I'd thought I'd share. Cheers folks, and Merry Christmas 2012. (The odds of me having a Merry Christmas 2013- or *any* Christmas 2013 and the ones afterwards- just went up.)

I had a friend who had this 10yrs ago, he had the chemo and is all clear, his hair grew back curly which apparently can be a side effect of the chemo. Good to hear you came thru, well done !

Thanks Moose! party

I'm currently trying a bit of drunken cooking. I think I'm OK so far. It'd be a bit of a stter to survive cancer and burn myself/choke to death!biggrin

Rock the fk on my son smile As another who has something of a possible death sentence hanging over his head I know exactly how you are feeling as its something I have spent a long time recently thinking about.

Im not dead yet is something on a personal mantra for me. Live your life to the full and never let the bds see you bleed.

Thanks folks. I appreciate the gestures. smile For those of you who've lost family and friends, I'm sorry at this time of year- I do know how that feels because I've lost a couple of people close to me too. I know how lucky I am and it makes you really appreciate what a gift life is.
