I really need help guys.
My OH works at a school and is 24 weeks pregnant, one of her colleagues quietly mentioned today that two children at the school have whooping cough and she was at risk.
She cannot be given the vaccine until 28 weeks and is at extreme risk until then. The doctors have just told us to 'speak to the school'.
How do I deal with this? Any advice would be hugely appreciated!

Why not do just that, and contact the head first thing tomorrow morning?
Obviously that is the plan but I just wondered how to deal with it and what I need to suggest to them? It isn't a role where she can work from home but being at the school exposes both her and my unborn daughter to what is being widely touted as a potential killer at the moment.K77 CTR said:

That's what is worrying her. I'm just trying to get as much info as I can and I will speak to her employers with her tomorrow.She is 26 and has not been vaccinated against it in the past.

I can't see any evidence that your unborn daughter would be at risk, and your wife would face the same risks as any other adult. The idea of vaccination at the 28 weeks point appears to be to pass on immunity to the baby, doesn't it?I think it would be worth another chat with your GP - it sounds like you need some more info to give you peace of mind.

Spoken to NHS direct and it is exactly as you have said.
