So, I've been learning snowboarding over the last couple of months at Helem's Snow Centre. Got proficient enough to be 'Slope Ready' meaning I can go down on my own in a 'reasonably' controlled manner.

Last week I has having a practice run and fell slightly awkwardly. I wasn't going to go to A&E, but my colleague persuaded me to as my foot was beginning to swell by the time I got to work.

Went to the hospital and had it X-Rayed. Was sent home as they couldn't see any fractures and put it down to a sprain. I got a pair of crutches which I've been on since.

Then I spoke to a medical friend who insisted I went back. Anyway, the fracture clinic arranged a CT scan and when I met the consultant he said that I had a Lisfranc injury and that I need to have an operation to put pins and plates in?

So I'm obviously a bit concerned. Has this happened to any other PHer???

Rare but serious, often needs surgery. Just make sure you have an orthopaedic surgeon, as you do.

Best of luck

^^ what the_doc said

although I would add that you should make sure you see an orthopaedic surgeon who is a foot and ankle specialist.

Thanks for the replies guys. It is a foot and ankle specialist who's doing the surgery. I've got an appointment to decide whether to do the surgery this week. Fingers crossed!

Wit woo - well I'm now 4 months post op and am walking around pretty well. Not running as I still have screws in that are being removed in a couple of weeks. What a palaver!
