My OH wants a 'Nike Fuelband' style pedometer thingy. There seem to be a few alternatives (Fitbit etc). Anyone have any experience with them? Any of them any good and which is the best?

I'm a bit loath to pay >100 quid for a couple of accelerometers and an incredibly simple chip but she's insistent.

The fuelband comes with a great support App from nike with acheivements, workout videos etc etc.. your not just buying the "band" so to speak its what you get with it that sets the nike band apart from the rest

I've got a 6th Gen iPod nano with the Nike+ gizmo which I think is the same tech as the band.

I've calibrated it over a known distance and then compared it with the distance on my Garmin Forerunner. It is surprisingly accurate +/- 100m over 5000m ish.

The 'fitbit' seems to come with similar stuff - i.e. app, exercise planner etc as does the 'Jawbone' (although I'm not sure that's released in the UK yet).

I'll have a look at the Nike+
