Evening, Penny-lope's mum posting

Hi folks. I've lost a big filling plus most of the back of the tooth from one of my molars. My dentist has recommended that I have a crown fitted. As there is very little tooth left, he's going to put in a post first. I know the first appointment will last approximately 45 minutes and know he'll be drilling into the root. Having never had this done before, and without wishing to sound stupid, how loud will this be? I can hack the nip of the local being administered, and know that it won't be painful once this takes hold, but the noise of the drill always freaks me out, or has done in the past.

From experience, not loud, just a high pitched whirr. I did fall asleep in the chair though...

Until he used the one that 'will just make your head vibrate a bit' that was odd!

Well I have eight crowns all on molars. It's brilliant when they are done, just like having
an old friend back. Impressions are first then they prepare the remaining tooth. A temporary filling
comes next and after a couple of weeks the crowns are fitted.

The really painful part is last of all. Paying.
