Weight loss/exercise
Discussion
Grettings PHers,
Over the last two months or so I have changed my eating habits pretty drastically, to include a lot less general crap and include a lot more fruit, veg, salad etc.
Now this has led to me losing weight (of course). Currently 6'4 and 16st 9lbs or so. Going to supplement this by beginning at the gym, having not been for 12 months or so due to a pretty serious hand injury.
Said injury will still keep me from doing any real weight work with my left hand.
So, my question being: What would be a good routine to use for general weight loss? I want to lose another 15-20lbs ideally. Never really paid much attention to what I did before and want to start a proper routine with it. I aim to attend the gym after work (6-7pm) 3, maybe 4, days weekly.
Any pointers would be appreciated.

It isn't a want to not use my hands thing it is a I all but can't use my left hand. Potentially having more surgery on it sometime early this year to hopefully rectify it but as of now I can't use it to any great degree.
That said I will be giving it a go but if Physio with it is anything to go by I fully expect it to be a no-go.

Best for weight is cardio. Cycling, running, swimming. No need to lift heavy things.
Rubbish, utter rubbish. Want the best? Do both!
An example of lifting would be a raised metabolism for over 38 hours, achieving even half with cardio isn't possible.
Here's an example of what I achieved in 50 days doing both and I didn't even have diet and training completely sorted;

And lets face it a lot of folk are doing this not just for health but also for looks and doing cardio alone may get you slim but it will also get most people the Mr muscle look!

It's amazing how one's opinion can change in a year. A year after replying to you, I became very interested in aesthetics. It's the only reason I train hard nowadays ie I was still functionally fit before I started lifting/HIIT/dieting.
Thats true and you've probably seen my views evolving over the past few years too. There's so much misinformation out there its hard for folks to make good decisions when it comes to all of these things.

Mmm. Perhaps we need a "sticky" with options depending on goals:There's so much misinformation out there its hard for folks to make good decisions when it comes to all of these things.
If you want to lose weight, do this:
If you want to get fit, do this:
If you want to build muscle, do this:

Tis true, my views are constantly evolving, but always seem to boil down to the same basic tenets. The internet has evidence supporting pretty much anything, as such, people often take it as gospel. This is true for so many things, I've found. People often make things much more complicated than they need to be. I've seen it occur in so many different fields.I stuck with a variation of a diet thats been popular for over 60 years. Its easy to get lost in the amount of information out there and the astonishing claims these folk make to commercilise their diet books/courses/foods.

Bingo!Same goes with trading (and gambling). Loads of people offering to teach you to trade/gamble, selling the dream, and tempt you by saying if you give them money, they'll let you in to the secrets only they know etc etc. They remind me of fat fitness instructors and couldn't trade their way out of a paper bag.
Actually, I'm suddenly reminded of an MPV I once saw - had a sticker on the window "Lose weight the easy way". It parked up and out climbed an obese mum, dad and kids. Great.
