I seem to have some sort of nail infection on a fingernail. It's been like this for about 8 months now. I bought some over the counter lacquer to apply and it helped for a short period of time but the problem always comes back.

Is this worth bothering the GP with? The nail and skin is broken around it, and its quite uncomfortable but ive lived with it for 8+ months.

2nd problem is my face.

I got two new pairs of glasses about 6 months ago, and since then have a red rash across my face, below the eyes but above the cheekbones. I changed the nose pads on the glasses to a different hypoalergenic type but it made no difference. I can keep the symptoms away for a few days with either savlon or e45 cream, but if i dont apply it, a day later, the rash comes back. It's also spread to my head, inbetween the eyebrows. It's not that painful, but it looks like i've spent too long in the sun.

Is this something else you would bother the doctor with? Or the optician? (or maybe a walk in centre?) Is there anything they can even do? I heard there might be a nickel allergy if both pairs of glasses are made of nickel, but im not sure. I have contact lenses but dont use them very often at all, and prefer wearing glasses most of the time.

To be honest, i'd feel a bit of a dick wasting the time of a GP for such small things, but they really piss me off and i've had both problems for ages now.

Any experiance or suggestions?

Eta: I dont drink booze, coffee or smoke either. My diet is reasonable i guess.

Your GP will probably prescribe antibiotics to deal with everything. It's possibly a sign of a low immunity from stress, lack of sleep etc.

I wouldn't be buying Easter eggs, though. wink

These sorts of things are what GPs are for - minor issues that you have tried to get rid of with over the counter stuff but can't.

The face rash you might get a topical corticosteroid cream for, they work really well but there are issues with use on the face so it depends how severe it is.

For the fingernail you'll probably get something similar to but stronger than the otc lacquer stuff.
