Knee exploration and flush recovery time

Afternoon,

I've been having knee problems for a while now, swelling and discomfort over the past 3 or 4 years, it culminated in me waking up yesterday morning to a very very loud creaking knee, so loud my wife could hear it grinding as I was walking, not nice

I went to the doctors and am due to have a key hole exploration and flush out on Monday as he reckons there are loose pieces of cartilage under the knee cap and in the joint.

I was wondering if anybody has had the same and how long it took them to recover before they could go back to work?

Impossible to say until the operation is underway, but most keyhole surgery does not take you off your feet.

You need to ask your surgeon this question before and/or after the operation.

I tell my patients as much as possible.

I've got a consultation on Monday where I suppose I'll find out more, I was hoping there would be a general idea so I can plan for work.

I had my right knee done about three years ago.I wish I had the operation seven years ago, very pleased with the result.I went out on the town on crutches that night. It was a little painful for about ten days but aftr that fine. What you must do is give it plenty of rest.I went to Portugal went out every night to the earley hours then rested it all day.It worked for me!! If you have a physical job then you are probably going to need at least a week off work.Gentle exercise then rest.Good luck I am sure you will be pleased with the end result

had one done a couple of years ago,
spent the first night at home in great pain,
hobbled around did not use cruches
3days later went out for first time, to remove dressing at doctors
so no going down the manor for a drink for a couple of days
they said no driving for 3/4 weeks, check insurance.
manual worker needed 4 weeks off, and i realy, hated being laid up .
not every one the same i suppose.;)
