Post operation depression?

Is this possible? I had surgery last week under a general anaesthetic and although it went well & I'm recovering faster than expected, I feel listless, unmotivated & irrationally irritable towards others. It definitely started after the operation & I otherwise have nothing to be miserable about.
I can't seem to shake it & I'm wondering whether or not I've subconsciously been confronted with my own mortality?

It is a common problem so don't worry. I am surprised they didn't tell you that you might get these side effects. Remember you have had a fairly big old dose and if you where under for sometime your body has to get rid of it. I had 3 fairly major op's in my 20's 2 of which where emergency and i felt s**t for weeks. Up and down like a yoyo. Be patient, drink lots of water and that will help your kidneys flush your system out. Hope that helps.
Diclofenac, Oxycodene & paracetamol. Although the Oxycodene only on the first day after the operation because they told me to, the diclofenac when the pain gets a bit much, the paracetamol ad hoc when it's aching & I also have morphine which I haven't touched but was told to use as a last resort if it became unbearably painful. It hasn't.
Physically, I'm recovering beyond all expectations apparently. My mood is lifting & it's been a bit more than a week now. I'm usually quite equable but this has been quite dark for a while. Let's just say I've been avoiding Smiths records for a bit.
