Wish me luck!

195kg is my best so far, it's only another 5kg, but it's a big round number, and i've been training for it since April!

That's fantastic at your body weight.

My pb is 215 at 105 so you're ahead of me, well done smile.

OP, bloody good luck!

I've often wondered about these big number 1RMs... I've never tried, as I'm just too concerned about injuring myself. Mind you, I am nearly 40 and injuries take a loooooooong time to go away!

I'm also nearly 40...... hehe

In my experience you have a much greater chance of injury on rep 7, 8, 9 etc of a lighter set.... that's when your concentration slips. I don't do 1RM attempts that often though

Yes, i can only lift double-overhand up to about 170, and even then i find that my focus shifts to my fingers instead of my back, which ruins the feel of the lift.

However if/when i get the 200 in the bag, i am going back down a bit and working on my grip.

Have you ever thought about using straps instead, it always confused me when people say they'd rather lift a lighter weight because of their forearms not being strong enough on an exercise ment for your back, glutes, and quads.

That is superb!

The best I can manage is 1rm of 170kg and I'm 105kg although in my defence my wrist hasn't recovered properly from a car accident I had 2 years ago.

Anyway you are officially in the 'epically strong' group of people.

Problem being that grip will never improve if you use straps all the time. Grip can come on very quickly when trained, and will soon stop being the limiting factor in a short period of time IME.

Well i managed it, just about! I should probably not have done squats on Monday though.... my second rep i failed to lock out, despite degrees of yelling inappropriate for a public gym hehe

But one in the bag was enough smile

(I am not fond of straps, much prefer to use a mixed grip when going heavy, and just chalk when doing reps/lighter work)

Hah, tempting though that is, i need to spend a few months and put 30kg on my squat, which is pitiful by comparison!

Excellent lifting. Fingers crossed for the 200.

My PB was 165kg at 75kg. I'm now at 160kg at 70kg.

I did 200 @ 84kg months back. Just got 180kgx8 at the same bw just the other day so hoping for 210+kg soon. Age is 22, not that its hugely relevant. Best absolute lift was 205@93kg a few years ago.

Has anyone any good programmes for getting deadlift up? I know myself and PT's have said ive got potential to be doing 250kg now but something isn't firing properly. Ie glutes. Ive done 5x5 and now trying 10rep warm up, 5rep as like a second warm up then 4 sets of 1 rep to my max (and heavier if im upto the job) but only just started this so haven't gone above 180kg yet frown

Try Coan-Phillipi deadlift rotine. Equally I've had great results from simply doing one heavy 4-8rep set then strip 20kg off and do 10+ reps as a backdown. When you get 6-8 on first set add 5kg to both sets. Doing a lot of supplementary back and hamstring work is v important.

My hamstrings are strong. I max out on machines 5 reps easy.
Im off to Google that deadlift routine now smile
