Ok, lunchtimes a week whilst at work I run 5k, however I still haven't quite worked out what I should be eating etc.
So get to work at eight and got out for my run at 12,
What and when is best to eat for breakfast etc so I don't get stitch but good for energy?
Cheers

Everyone's different but I have a banana and toast as early as possible, cup of tea, and nothing after 10 if running at 12 (especially not coffee). That's just what works for me though.

Oats. I have 200g with 700ml of milk and mixed nuts blended into a shake although I do this prior to gym however oats should give you substantial energy

I learnt something yesterday - a long lunch at a two-starred Michelin restaurant followed a few hours later by a six mile run will result in the most spectacular diarrhea!

Hope that helps.....

OP - running 5K you will have enough energy stored in your body so from that point of view it wouldn't really matter what you eat. To avoid stitches you shouldn't eat anything 2 hours before running. Find what is comfortable.

I prefer to run first thing on a completely empty stomach.

What he said /\

Just play about with times of food before your workout if i eat or drink about 2.5hrs before my run i get really bad stiches. Just see how you feel everyone is different.

I get up and run with an empty stomach - only 3-5k. I am then really ready for breakfast smile
