Basically i seem to smell more than i used to and i'm a bit confused.

Nothings changed, still shower at least once per day, cotton clothes, soap and anti-perspirant, but at the end of the day i'm definitely smellier than i used to be.

Don't like it- is it just something that changes as you get older (i'm 34 so not exactly old), or could it be down to something else.

Realise that this is going to generate lots of pisstaking, but its of genuine concern - i HATE people that stink.

I find using a body exfoliator when I shower makes a difference as can trimming body hair (armpits), I sweat like mad so use a roll-on called Anhydrol Forte to stop it.

Try this: I thought I was developing an embarrassing BO problem. But I have found that the modern trend for 40C washes, less water and bleachless washing machine liquids simply do not get my work shirts, t-shirts etc clean enough. After a while, I find smell builds up even on "clean" clothes.

I probably need to do this every time, but every month or so I scrub the armpits of my shirts with Vanish soap and put them through a hot wash. This seems to keep this in check. A hot wash seems to clean through the machine ("maintenance wash" I believe) too which gets damp and musty which gets into the clothes as well.

Consider your diet and drinking habits.

Poor diet and drinking too much alcohol (if you do) can cause really bad BO. What I drink/eat has a big effect for me.

And in addition to that, general health and the amount of fat you carry will all have a bearing on how much/often you sweat.

Have you put on a bit of weight? That seems to be the number 1 culprit for getting sweatier.

Oh and try Mitchum antiperspirant if you don't already.

Definitely this.
Is it you or your shirt smelling?
I was getting it quite badly, clothes straight out the wash smelling a soon as I put them on. A proper hot wash sorted my work shirts which were the worst offenders, but didn't want to risk my others on a 90* wash.
I used to use 1 cap of fluid for a wash which I now know is less than the recomended ammount. Using more detergent has sorted the problem smile

hair removal by shaving or wax will stop the sweat sticking and smelling

t shirt under the shirt will stop the wet patches

this stuff is amazing..... http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B003WOYCOG/?tag=hydra0b...

you could also do what I do and buy two of everything, keep a shirt with you, by lunch time if its soaked change it smile

I don't sweat too much but some times if I am stressed i pour, 2 shirt trick has saved my bacon many times

For some reason I found really dark cotton work-shirts to smell far stronger in the underarm area than white shirts. Must be something in the dyes I guess!? If its the underarm whiffage that is offending then Driclor will DEFINITELY sort you out? Promise.

It's definitely me rather tan the shirts frown

I have put a bit of weight on recently so could well be that.

Thanks for the tips and not taking the piss- it's a bit embarrassing to be honest.

On the anti-perspirant stains issue, try SebaMed instead of any sprays/roll-on/sticks that contain silver. That's apparently what's causes the residue. Or, wear an undershirt. smile

...and what a 5,000th post! wink

Check your diet too.
What kind of things do you normally eat and drink - typical day/week?
