90 days. What's possible?
Discussion
Right. Set the scene.
I'm currently just below 14 stone, and i'm 5'9" and 32 years old.
I've been VERY inactive since around August, five-a-side once a week, and eating pretty poorly.
However, i've set myself on a lifestyle change. I realise if I don't do something now, then maintain it, things will get pretty difficult to get out of as I get older.
I've been up and down with weight and fitness for about 4 years due to various reasons. 12st > 11st > 14st > 12st > 14st again.
I've set myself a pretty tough plan, firstly, consisting of eating healthy. I'm dropping carbs right down low. I've done the caveman diet before and it really did do me wonders.
This is roughly my plan
Some of which I implemented on the 1st Feb (although only joined the gym again today)
Gym
Five-a-side
Swim 1k
Gym
Swim 1k
Gym
Also
To back this up, the wife is doing ShaunT Insanity, so i'm getting up at 6am to do this.
Pretty mental huh?
Anyone got any idea how much progress is possible in 100 days?
The reason? I want to do 'Tough Mudder' at the beginning of May!

I'm mentally up for this.

Sounds great. Problem is, your body might not be up for it and you're exhausted after the first week, aching all over and barely able to get out of bed.
Good luck, though, and log everything just for future reference eg actual miles done, weight lifted, calories burnt according to machines, calories eaten. Even if your weight loss is not what you hoped for, you will at least be able to determine what to do next.

I've been playing footy, so body isn't completely alien to exercise!

I did Insanity on Saturday morning ached like a b
d, shouldn't have played football on the monday that's for sure! Did the next Insanity installments on Wednesday and this morning, coping much better already.Diet has changed immesurably. Got protein powder for the gym too, should help me not waste away! Cycles into/from work have been tough this week though.
Haha, mate your plan isnt far off what I'm doing - and i've been doing it for f*cking ages - and yeah, you'll be f*cked!
If you take it all on at once, your form will suffer massively, you'll be constantly hungry, and you'll wreck yourself in the first week.
I've never found big leaps in to heathdom very productive. Much better ease into it slowly, start with every other day, light runs / cycle or whatever, then build up. Then clean up your diet, then reduce calorie intake (initially you'll be starving ALL the time. After that you'll learn to operate on normal intake, once you're up to speed you'll happily operate on a reduced intake - if needs be)
If you do take it all on at once, expect legs and joints that HATE you the next day, dizzy spells from lack of energy, and to be eating twice as much as you are now.
Sorry, I dont want to sound like an arse! : )

The answer is a huge amount. I have some old threads on this stuff although made a major change in 60 days.
One of the tricks to reducing aching is protein in food or powder form. The real thing that stops me aching is actually BCAA's. I wasn't sure if I believed in the use of BCAA's but each time I take it, I ache a whole lot less!
If the commitment is there and kept to a high level then a huge amount is possible in around 3 months of training.
I actually trained 7 days a week, sometimes twice a day and my body loved it after the first two weeks. The best bit is you should get the benefit of being a newbie where quite often the body responds very strongly to the changes.

90 days is a huge amount!!! YOu can completely change your body in that time.
I've just been looking at BCAAs in the past week (young lads in the gym are all making sure they take theirs.

"The major finding of the present study is that branched-chain amino acid ingestion during and after acute resistance exercise increases site-specific phosphorylation and activation of p70S6k in skeletal muscle".
Or, in a nutshell:
"During recovery from exercise, BCAA have an anabolic effect in human skeletal muscle (4). "

cheers for the comments guys.
I'm an all or nothing type of guy, so it's not going to be a phase of easing myself in. If i'm hungry, so be it!
I've pretty prepared to be honest, it's not the first time i've sent myself a target, but it is with relation to my 'physical appearance' along with a motivational goal. I've already got a tub of BCAAs and Protein shakes that never got opened from the summer (think they're still in date?!)
Nice to hear that with effort I can see some visible improvements. I suppose I did a marathon with only 2 months training, so I should know what people are capable of (although my time was only a shade over 4 hours, so not impressive)
Looking forward to getting 'on it'. Although i've just had a white bread sarnie, and had a roast and a small slice of cheesecake at lunchtime, but hey, that's the first 'bad' thing i've eaten since last Friday, and I did go swimming this morning.
Weighed in at my mates today too, i'm not as heavy as I thought (I estimated myself at just under 14st) and actually weighed 13st 5 but with a hoody, t-shirt, jeans and belt. Got my first gym session tomorrow, so will get a more accurate weight there.
I'll do the walk of shame and get a photo up here and embarrass myself asap, I think i've made progress in a week already though, feel better within myself, and no aches from the achilles!!!! 'mazing.
Love you all xx
