I'm after a bit of an opinion please guys! Been for a few consultations as i am after that "perfect" smile. And i'm going to have 4 crowns on my front 4 teeth. But before that, The dentist who is going to do it, has advised closing the small 2mm gap in my front teeth, as he thinks it's better to get them right next to each other first, rather than try and make the crowns wider and mess about to compensate.

So i went for a consultation with his recommended private orthodontist, who told me mine was an easy straight forward case, which would only require 6-9 months of the clear ceramic "clarity" brackets (the white coloured braces).

he's written to me with a quote which includes the 6-9 months of treatment, and all after care that's required, including a retainer etc.

It's come in at a £3000 though, which is way more than i was expecting! I am still going to go ahead with it, but just want to check i'm not being massively ripped off here and that sounds like a normal price? I don;t want to be paying double the price!

What i will say though, is that i'm happy to pay a bit more for a top guy like him if that still sounds reasonable. I'd rather not completely cut corners and go cheap. After you all, you get what you pay for!

Yeah, you get what you pay for and you DEFINITELY don't want to skimp on things like your gnashers.

I think 3k for 4 teeth with some moving surgery in there seems decent? I think Driller on here is a dentist and he frequents this area so I'm sure he will be able to give you some sound advice.

As I say, I think it sounds reasonable, but rather than price, with this sort of thing I'd be going on recommendations.

Does it include whitening up your other teeth too?

Your profile suggests you're in Berkshire so if you want a second opinion/quote then I can recommend the Windsor Centre for Advanced Dentistry.
Had 4yrs of ortho treatment there (although I had lingual braces which go on the back of your teeth) and the whole process and treatment with them was faultless. They are at the upper end of the price scale so might be a good comparison to see if the £3k is about right.

No, it's £3000 just for the orthodontics bit! The crowns etc are completely seperate at approx another £4000! That's why i was asking. seems so expensive to me for some short term braces?

both dentists come highly recommended. But essentially it's £7000 to get my front 4 teeth looking perfect.

No that doesn't include whitening! Which i will also have to pay for after!

Over £7000 for whitening, 4 front teeth and a brace to keep it all in place? Sounds fking expensive now... !

Exactly! That's what i thought!? It's not a brace to keep it in place as such. But 6-9 months of having abrace before i get the crowns, to get the front teeth in place properly, ready for the crowns if that makes sense?

Yeah I know what you're saying now. Still, I think it's a lot of money. If I was splashing out 7 grand, I'd go visit at least one other reputable place as matey above mentioned.

You vain fker. :P

haha! That's a fair point because they aren't even really that bad. they are perfectly acceptable, just not perfect! So that's the 7l becomes even harder to justify! If they were horrible and knackered then fair enough!

I've booked myself into that Advanced Dental in windsor tha twas suggested above. So will see what they say! Another £150 for the pleasure though! redface
