getting used to glasses.

Following an eye-test last week I have now been prescribed glasses..My left eye is fairly weak,my right eye has a mild prescription and I have been finding it difficult to read small print/maps etc recently.

The Optician has advised varifocals as I did not want to cart 2 pairs around all day for distance/reading.

What Issues do I need to watch out for and how tricky are Varifocals to get used to using the same pair for distance and reading..Is it a matter of perseverance.

What hurdles did you guys encounter?

Personally I don't like lenses with a varying lens. For me, I like to use the whole lens to see the same view. If it were me, I would try to use a fixed lens and use it when you really need to. I found, once you rely on glasses 100%, your eyes get used to the lens and get lazy.
