No sex without STI test

My GF and I have been going out for a year or so. Prior to this, I was in a 7 year relationship and a 3 year relationship. Whilst I have slept with a number of other women, if I haven't been involved with them long term I have always used condoms when sleeping with them. My current GF says she will not sleep with me without condoms until I get an STI test. Is she being mental or is her request reasonable? Have you been asked to do this and did you accept or refuse?

Why don't you suggest the two of you go and get checked out together or does she feel she's exempt?

These days probably reasonable. It can be through urine (no nasty swabs) and even if you have something two single-dose antibiotics and you are clear (from Chlamydia and Gonorrhea).

One of my Ex-GF's asked me to take an STI test before sleeping with her, I of course took it. You cant be took careful these days TBH.

My problem is that it is a slur on my history and a lack of trust of my judgement. Also as I've not been with anybody else in well over a year surely I would show some symptoms of something by now.

Hmm, i'd be a bit more pragmatic about it - she just wants to be careful and having a careful girlfriend is a good thing surely?

Seems sort of reasonable. You might have something and not know it. Chlamydia I think can infect a man and he'll not notice and render a woman infertile.

Bit worrying though if she's going to insist on repeats and she should take one too just to be fair. I'm sure you know her better but sounds like a worrying lack of trust.

For Chlamydia no and is relatively easy to get from even oral.

You've been going out with your 'girlfriend' for a year and you haven't had sex yet? Well, you're nothing if not patient!

She's definitely mental and you're probably gay so it's probably best to end it now.

You can be a carrier, without showing symptoms.

Best thing is for BOTH of you to have the tests and be done with it. If she refuses, dump her and get a better one

Totally reasonable request.

The two of you should have a test to ensure that neither of you are carrying something.

We happen to live in the Caribbean which has a very high HIV rate and it really sends home the message about how serious these diseases are. Remember that (worse case scenario) this is literally a choice between life and death - seems a reasonable request to me.
