From what I can work out the figures of -

SYS 162 DIA 78 PUL 49

mean that i've got a high blood pressure when the heart is beating, a normal level when its not, and a low pulse. Is this right ?

The first figure suggests this is second stage hypertension which is bad right ?

But if I have a low pulse but produce good pressue that must mean I have a good working heart ?

Your systolic is slightly high.

Did you get that blood pressure reading at your GPs? If so I imagine they'll have you back for a repeat reading.

Heart rate of 49 - are you fit?

Well, just used the machine they had sitting in the reception when I left.

Well i'm quite good looking

I wouldn't say fit as in do a lot of hard excercise but am quite active, like walking everywhere if I can.

Yes your systolic on that reading is slightly high. It might be a true reading or might be high if you were stressed or worried about going to the doctors' etc. Have a read of this, and perhaps ring your GP to have a repeat reading.

I was back in the docs today for some travel jabs, very chilled out so used the machine again.

Now its SYS 122 DIA 68 PUL 55.

Pretty good I reckon.
